Do I need to tip?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer tours on Sundays or public holidays. Most businesses in Downtown Christiansted are closed on Sundays – including three of our six tasting locations – making it a challenge to run our tour on this day. The same goes for public holidays where many businesses are closed.

“I want visitors of St. Croix to experience the heart and soul of our island – the food – and fall in love with this slice of paradise I’ve been blessed to call home!” -Anquanette Gaspard Anquanette is a Crucian-born entrepreneur, writer, and founder whose travels abroad ultimately led her back to the island she has always called home. Growing up on St. Croix shaped her appreciation for food and culture. Freshly caught fish became afternoon lunch, trips to the rainforest meant picking tropical fruit straight from the trees, and meals prepared over a coal pot created flavors that still define the island today. As a local, you’re sure to be familiar with our route and most of the stops along the tour but you will have an opportunity to discover new items at our tasting locations and gain insight about the establishments themselves. We will also share many interesting, unknown facts about downtown Christiansted’s history, architecture and culture that you may not be aware of. Additionally, you can take advantage of being a local and relish in the unique opportunity to re-visit many of the eateries and specialty food locations we will visit. Treat yourself at these local establishments whenever the mood strikes you with exclusive coupons offered only to guests of the Taste of Twin City Food Tour. Whether you’re entertaining out-of-town family and guests or playing tourist for a day, there’s something for everyone on our food excursion! When is the best time to take the tour? We highly recommend taking the Taste of Twin City Food Tour at the beginning of your visit to St. Croix. Doing so will help you become familiar with the island’s customs and culture as well as learn about all the local foods you’ll be sure to enjoy throughout your entire visit. Another reason to take our tour early on in your visit is to allow you extra time to return to your favorite tasting locations on the tour and redeem your exclusive Virgin Islands Food Tours coupons. Does the tour end at the same place we meet? No, our Taste of Twin City Food Tour does not finish at the same location as the meeting point. However, detailed instructions are provided after ticket purchase with the starting location and all participants will receive a map with return directions at the beginning of the tour. If you’d like to continue exploring downtown Christiansted or return to our tasting locations to redeem your exclusive Virgin Islands Food Tours coupons, our guides are prepared to direct you to any location in the downtown area you would like to go. Additionally, there will be a number of taxis in the area to get you back to your hotel, resort, vacation rental or the cruise terminal after the tour. If I am on a cruise, will the tour be finished in time for me to get back to my ship? Yes, our tours are designed to ensure you have plenty of time to get to and from your ship. Is there parking near the tour meeting point? Yes, there is plenty of street parking near the starting point of the Taste of Twin City Food Tour. We will provide specific parking details upon the purchase of your tickets. Can I shop during the tour? Because of our pre-arranged timing for our tour stops, we kindly ask all tour guests to reserve their desire to ‘shop til you drop’ for after the tour to ensure that we arrive at all of our tasting locations on time. Refunds and Cancellations All tickets purchased for our Taste of Twin City Food Tour and Christiansted Sip & Savor Mixology Class can be cancelled up to 48 hours before your scheduled tour. No refunds will be issued within 48 hours of the scheduled tour date. Guests are permitted to rebook up to 24 hours before their scheduled tour. Tours may be cancelled due to severe inclement weather (such as a hurricane or thunderstorms). In these rare cases, we will reschedule your tour or refund your ticket purchase. Is the tour appropriate for children? Children are always welcomed, however the length of the tour is 2.5-3 hours long and may be difficult for children with limited attention spans. Parents should assess their children individually when determining if a food tour is suitable for them. Do we only walk around and sample food? Absolutely not! Our tours combine architectural commentary, historical facts, local culture and culinary insight into a unique 3-hour experience. Learn about the island’s diverse history dating back to the early 1400s, its architectural connection to its Danish roots and experience delicious local foods and drinks stemmed in sustainability and agriculture. What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies? Please let us know if you or anyone in your group has dietary restrictions (i.e. celiac disease, vegetarian, food allergies, etc.) when you purchase your tickets. Advising us in advance will allow us the opportunity to accommodate your needs. Do I need to purchase tickets in advance? All tickets for our Taste of Twin City Food Tour and Christiansted Sip & Savor Mixology Class must be purchased in advance. In order to guarantee food and drink tastings are prepared for you, we must provide advance notice to our food partners. Our tours sell out well in advance. To ensure you secure your preferred date and number of tickets, we encourage you to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets can only be purchased from our website using a Visa, AMEX, MasterCard or Discover credit card. Cash and/or walk-up traffic the day of the tours are not accepted. If a food tour is sold out, can I get on a waiting list? Unfortunately, we do not have a waiting list for tours once they are sold out. Are bathrooms available during the tour? Yes, bathrooms are available during the tour at selected food-tasting locations. Your tour guide will remind you at various stops on the tour where bathrooms are available for use. Is the tour cancelled due to bad weather? Our Taste of Twin City Tour is held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to enjoy the tasting inside of the various establishments on the tour. We also provide ponchos in case of sudden weather changes or if you do not have your own umbrella. Please be sure to check the weather conditions on the day of your tour and dress accordingly. If severe inclement weather such as a hurricane occurs, we will gladly reschedule your tour or refund your ticket purchase. Are tours wheelchair and baby stroller accessible? The Taste of Twin City Food tour is accessible for baby strollers; however, the tour is not suitable for guests requiring wheelchair assistance or those with severe mobility issues. The tour route includes one slightly inclined hill as well as two tasting locations accessible by stairs only. If you are bringing a stroller, please let us know at least 24 hours before the tour begins to so that we can ensure you have the best tour experience possible. Are tours offered in English only? Yes, we only offer tours in English at this time. Please contact us if you would like to make arrangements for your own interpreter to join the tour. What should I bring on the tour? You should bring with you a camera and a small bottle of water. When it’s really hot out, we recommend an application of sunscreen on exposed parts of the body and a lightweight pair of sunglasses. If it looks like rain, we can provide you with a plastic rain poncho. Do you support corporate or private events? We absolutely do! We can accommodate a variety of special requests (family reunions, destination weddings, birthday parties, out of town guests, corporate events, conventions and more). Do you offer gift certificates? Absolutely! Virgin Islands Food Tours Gift Certificates are the perfect gift for family, friends and colleagues. Yes, all guests must purchase a ticket whether they plan to participate in the food tastings or not. Non-paying individuals will not be able to join the tour for any reason. What is included in the ticket price? Our Taste of Twin City Food Tour tickets included all food and drink tastings, a guided tour and exclusive tasting location coupons. Your professional tour guide will offer insightful commentary on the history, architecture and culture of St. Croix and the Downtown Christiansted area along the tour route. Gratuity is not included in the ticket price. In the event my cruise ship cannot come to port or is otherwise redirected, can I get a refund on my tickets? Yes. If for some reason your ship does not come to port in St. Croix, we will refund your ticket purchase within 48 hours.

Transactions and e-commerce on our site. During your visit to the Site, you may elect to engage in a transaction involving the purchase of a product or a service. To serve you most efficiently, credit card transactions and order fulfillment may be handled by a third party processing agent, bank or distribution institution. While in most cases transactions are completed without difficulty, there is no such thing as “perfect security” on the Internet or offline. If you are concerned about online credit card safety, you can use the provided telephone number to call us and place your order by phone. The Company and the Site cannot take responsibility for the success or security of transactions undertaken or processed by third parties. Late Fees. If you fail to pay your full balance by the due date on your invoice, we may charge you late fees and collection fees (including field collection fees that apply if we send someone to your home or business in an attempt to collect amounts you owe us). Except where late fees are set pursuant to law, the current late fee you will incur each month is $250.00, or 50% of the amount past due, whichever is greater. You will be responsible for reasonable attorney’s fees and costs incurred by the Company in our collection attempts of any past due amounts not paid by you. You are eligible for a one-time forgiveness of a late payment charge each calendar year. If your eligibility has been used, and you fail to pay the amount owed, we may suspend or terminate any Services provided to you, in addition to paying all outstanding balances, prior to restoring your Services. It is your responsibility to ensure the Company is in receipt of your payment on or prior to the due date indicated on your invoice. Communications with Third Parties Through The Site. Your dealings or communications through the Site with any party other than the Company and the Site are solely between you and that third party. General Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability. While the Company and the Site use reasonable efforts to include accurate and up-to-date information, we make no warranties or representations as to the accuracy of the Content and assume no liability or responsibility for any error or omission in the Content. Waiver and Release of Liability – Walking Tours. By virtue of purchasing tickets for and/or participating in the food tasting and cultural walking tours offered by the Company, and in consideration of being allowed to purchase said tickets and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, you understand, acknowledge, represent, warrant and agree as follows, with the knowledge that the Company will rely on same: A. You desire to participate in the food tasting and cultural walking tours offered by the Company (the “Tours”); B. You are in good health and suffer from no minor or serious physical or mental injury, illness or disability that would make you especially susceptible to injury or disability while performing any activity contemplated by this Agreement (including, without limitation, this Section 9); C. You fully comprehend and accept all of the risks associated with your participation in the Tours including, without limitation, exposure to unfavorable weather conditions, food sickness, injuries (e.g., without limitation, those arising out of self-inflicted accidents or mishaps, other participants, automobiles, pedestrians and the like) and death; D. You grant to Company and Company’s assigns the irrevocable, sub-licensable right and authority to use your name, likeness, photograph and/or picture for any and all commercial or non-commercial purposes now known or later developed in perpetuity throughout the universe without further obligation or compensation to you; E. YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE TOURS IS AT YOUR OWN SOLE RISK. YOU, ON BEHALF OF YOURSELF AND/OR ANY PERSON OR ENTITY CLAIMING THROUGH OR ON YOUR BEHALF, HEREBY FOREVER AND UNCONDITIONALLY RELEASE AND DISCHARGE THE COMPANY, THE COMPANY’S RELATED AND AFFILIATED ENTITIES, THE PRESENT AND FORMER EMPLOYEES, OWNERS, OFFICERS, MEMBERS, MANAGERS, PARTNERS, CONTRACTORS, INSURERS, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS OF THE FOREGOING (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE SAGE GROUP LTD., FOOD CONNECT MEDIA INC, (COLLECTIVELY, “RELEASED PARTIES”) FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, ACTIONS, DAMAGES, LIABILITIES, LOSSES, COSTS AND EXPENSES IN ANY WAY ARISING OUT OF, OR RESULTING FROM, YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE TOURS, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, ACTIONS, AND LIABILITIES FOR DEATH, INJURY, LOSS OR DAMAGE TO YOU, TO ANY ONE ELSE, OR TO ANY PROPERTY, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT SUCH INJURY, LOSS OR DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL CONDUCT OF THE COMPANY OR ANY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES. YOU, ON BEHALF OF YOURSELF AND/OR ANY PERSON OR ENTITY ACTING THROUGH OR ON YOUR BEHALF, FURTHER AGREE TO DEFEND AND INDEMNIFY THE RELEASED PARTIES, AND TO HOLD THE RELEASED PARTIES HARMLESS, FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITIES, CLAIMS, ACTIONS, DAMAGES, EXPENSES (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ATTORNEY’S FEES) AND LOSSES OF ANY KIND OR NATURE WHATSOEVER IN ANY WAY ARISING OUT OF, OR RESULTING FROM, YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE TOURS; and F. This Section 9 is in addition to, and not a limitation of, the other terms and conditions of this Agreement. 10. International Users. The Site is controlled, operated and administered from within the United States. The Company and the Site make no representation that materials, Content, or Chat Content available through the Site are appropriate or available for use outside the United States and access to them from territories where their contents are illegal is prohibited. You may not use the Site or export the Content or Chat Content in violation of U.S. export laws and regulations. If you access the Site from a location outside the United States, you are responsible for compliance with all applicable laws. Miscellaneous: The Company and the Site reserve the right to change this Agreement at any time in its sole discretion and to notify users of any such changes solely by posting such changes. Your continued use of the Site after the posting of any amended agreement shall constitute your agreement to be bound by any such changes. Waiver Notice Waiver and Release of Claims By virtue of purchasing tickets for and/or participating in the food tasting and cultural walking tours offered by Virgin Islands Food Tours LLC (the “Company”), and in consideration of being allowed to purchase said tickets, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, said purchaser/tour participant (the “Participant”) understands, acknowledges represents, warrants and agrees as follows, with the knowledge that the Company will rely on same: Participant desires to participate in the food tasting and cultural walking tours offered by the Company (the “Tours”). Participant is in good health and suffers from no minor or serious physical or mental injury, illness or disability that would make Participant especially susceptible to injury or disability while performing any activity contemplated by this Waiver and Release of Claims. Participant fully understands and assumes all of the risks associated with his/her participation in the Tours including, without limitation, exposure to unfavorable weather conditions, food sickness, injuries (e.g., without limitation, those arising out of self-inflicted accidents or mishaps, other participants, automobiles, pedestrians and the like) and death. Participant, on behalf of his/herself and/or any person or entity acting through or on behalf of participant, further agrees to defend and indemnify the released parties, and to hold the released parties harmless, from any and all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, expenses (including, without limitation, attorney’s fees) and losses of any kind or nature whatsoever in any way arising out of, or resulting from, participant’s participation in the tours. Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19. The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people. Virgin Islands Food Tours, LLC (“VIFT”) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, VIFT cannot guarantee that you and/or any minor you are responsible for will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending VIFT activities could increase your risk of contracting COVID-19. By reading this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that I and any minor I am responsible for may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending VIFT activities and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at VIFT may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, VIFT employees, volunteers, and program participants and their families. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child(ren) or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my child(ren) may experience or incur in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance at VIFT activities or participation in VIFT programming (“Claims”). On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless VIFT, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of VIFT, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any VIFT program, tour or activity. This Waiver and Release of Claims constitutes the entire agreement and understanding between Participant and the Released Parties, and cancels, terminates and supersedes any prior agreement or understanding relating to the subject matter hereof. There are no representations, promises, agreements, warranties, covenants, or undertakings other than those contained in this Waiver and Release of Claims. None of the provisions of this Waiver and Release of Claims can be waived or modified except expressly in writing signed by Participant and the party against whom the waiver or modification is sought to be enforced. Failure of any of the Released Parties to enforce any of their rights hereunder at any time shall not act as a waiver to enforce their rights under this Waiver and Release for same or similar acts at any subsequent time.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our guide LD was wonderful, informative and friendly she shared so much local knowledge about the people, and culture in addition to the food and drink that we got to sample. Learning about family and personal stories of the hosts adds so much to the tour. The local chocolatier, Blue Chocolates, the bakery family the Thomases, the cafes Singh's and Zeny's, and of course the local vodka painkillers on the boardwalk and local ice cream shop. My two adult sons and I took this tour with David as our guide. It was a wonderful experience! David is extremely knowledgeable as well as talented, so we learned a lot besides eating! The authentic foods were tried were amazing, and we enjoyed ending the tour at the boardwalk for a drink and ice cream! If you’re concerned about how much walking you do, don’t be! It’s a nice easy walk, and David keeps you out of the sun on a hot day as much as possible. We would do this tour again!

I did the food tour with LD in St Croix. What a wonderful experience! Transportation was included since we came in on a cruise which was helpful. The tour itself was fantastic. Such wonderful history information and AMAZING food! LD was easy to understand and answered our questions. I was definitely full! My only regret was we did not have any time after the tour to shop the stores we visited since our return ride to the port was scheduled immediately following the tour. The tour was a great way to experience a new place with knowledge, sites and tastes from the region.

Our guide, LT, was intelligent, well spoken, friendly, funny and extremely knowledgeable about the culture and history of St Croix and Christiansted. Had a great tour with Marra yesterday. Tour was informational and Marra was well versed in St Croix history. She.was pleasant and easy to speak with. Food tastings were good with enough time to sample each. Walking was easy and not strenuous. This was an excellent experience. The range of foods was wide, encompassing many aspects of local cuisine and the ethnic contributors to it. Not surprising, no Danish offerings! Come hungry! We had a tour with Marra, who was very entertaining and informative. She grew up on the island and knew everybody we ran into at the local restaurants, shops and bars. The tour included plenty of walking to help burn off the food and several historical stops to learn about the island’s history and culture. The food was delicious, authentic and very filling. I would recommend this to anybody who wants to get to know more about the island and have a great dining experience. We’ve already gone back visited 4 of the local spots Marra introduced us to.

This was an excellent way to spend part of my first day in St. Croix! Our tour guide, David Berg, was passionate about the diverse local foods and beverages, and St. Croix history. We have been going to St Croix for many years but this was the first time that we have done the food tour. We were so glad that we did! Our group of 4 all had a wonderful time. We learned so much about the island of St Croix and its history. The food that we tried on the tour was so delicious and we tried a lot of new restaurants and foods. All of the folks in the restaurants were welcoming and proud of the food that they served to us. The best part about the tour was our guide, Laurelle. She was so friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. A great way to get to the know St Croix and its food and people.

The C'sted Sip & Savor Mixology Class with VI Food Tours is a must do while visiting St. Croix. Learning how to create island favorite cocktails that I can recreate at home was my favorite part of this experience. The mixologist was very interactive and hands on and have no fear if you fall behind they will help you catch up. My second favorite part was by the second drink my sense of hearing got even clearer due to the magical power that comes with drinking delicious rum (haha). We even learned how to create a delicious drink using fermented breadfruit! I highly recommend this experience if you are looking for a creative date night idea, girls night, special occasion, visiting St. Croix, or just looking for a good reason to drink rum for fun.

We were a group of 8 adults and a baby and booked our tour early in our trip to get the lay of the land and we were so glad we did. We enjoyed the mix of local cuisine and history. This was a fantastic food tour with a great blend of local history with island cuisine. The stops were diverse and small locally owned businesses that had it not been for the tour you would have walked right past. The historic stops really enriched the experience. Our guide, Davi (I think I spelled it correctly) was a wealth of information and he welcomed questions. He kept the group moving but we never felt rushed. All of the food was excellent and it was neat to meet the small business owners. Food is an important part of any culture so the tie in to history was a perfect compliment. I would highly recommend.

Highly recommend this fun and insightful tour. This was our fifth trip to St Croix and the first time taking this tour. As a result, we discovered some outstanding local joints we would otherwise never know about. Because of this tour I have decided that in any new city I will make a Food Tour among the very first of any excursions! The Mixology Class was an excellent experience! From the moment you enter the door, you get to choose a station that is equipped with everything you need to create delicious drinks. To be honest. 🏏 This class was excellent. I found it fascinating to learn how locally produced Cruzan Rum has impacted not just drink but also our shared past.Hurry to this class. It's incredible. As a native Crucian, I was very excited to learn that there was a food tour on my native island. In the past, I have done several food tours in different cities and enjoyed doing them. Therefore, I immediately booked this food tour as part of my family reunion activities.Well, I can definitely say that this food tour met and exceeded my expectations and was one of the highlights of our reunion. This is the third time my husband and I took the food tour . We not only enjoyed the 6 tastings, each from a local owner, but also the history of each one of the restaurants, and most dating back many generations, History was not only of the restaurants, but also Christensted, and St Croix. That's thanks to our tour guide, J.D. , who enjoyed sharing the knowledge she had of each place we stopped at and historical facts of the town. Very bright and cheery. As a note, for doing this tour 3 times, we had a different tour guide and each time we learned something new. So we highly recommend the food tour. We tasted everything from delicious street snacks to mouthwatering desserts. It was awesome to chat with some of the vendors, too they had such inspiring stories that really brought the food to life. Our tour guide LD could not have been better and went above and beyond. The tour was perfectly paced, so we had plenty of time to enjoy each bite, snap some photos, and just soak everything in. LD was a very good tour guide! There were six stops on our tour all within a few blocks around downtown Christiansted. Food was excellent, and we went to some authentic local places we never would have known about or gone to on our own. Be sure to let them know in advance if you have a food or nut allergy and they do a good job trying to accommodate. Not only did you have restaurant/food stops, but there were a couple of other historical stops at a church and a park also on the tour. We were stuffed at the end of the tour and had a great time.

We really enjoyed trying all sorts of different foods at local places we most likely wouldn't have tried. The food was fantastic. Our guide, Mara, was wonderful. She gave a lot of interesting facts about local culture and history. She pointed out neat places we otherwise would not have seen. What an awesome tour! It was a hot day, but we had a great time. Take a couple of hours to explore some of the island's great eats. We were with only one other couple, so we were able to chat extensively with our guide.
